We have all experienced boring moments when we should pay attention. I had struggled attention during boring business lecture meeting in a small room and after lunch, or a long conversation on the phone. Your inability to pay close attention makes it difficult for you to remember what the presentation or discussion. There is a bug in these cases your memory because you need careful attention to details and retrieve code from memory. If you don't pay attention, remember well.
When you are in these cases, you may try different ways to stay alert. You vidgit in your seat, rub your eyes, stand up, talk, or drawing. Yes, I draw.
Maybe were taught that tampering is synonymous with lack of interest. The school was to "stop messing" and pay attention. During the business meeting the impression others had "never hear" when they see you messing. However, a recent study found that tampering can help you pay attention and remember during boring situations.
A research study by Jackie Andrade, Ph.d. at the University of Plymouth has found that people who dodlid while listening to monotonous and boring phone call in memory 29% more information than dodlers hear that same word. As indicated in the study:
"Absurd way to pass time when bored in lecture or a phone call. May improve or prevent attention the basic function? To answer this question, monitor 40 participants fake telephone message for people coming to monotonous. Half the Group was randomly "messing" where shaded shapes printed while listening to telephone conversations. Better performance on a pointless task of monitoring the 29 per cent information about sudden memory test. Unlike many cases dual task, messing at work could be useful. Future research could test whether tampering with AIDS cognitive performance by reducing daydreaming. "
Through working with people who have attention deficit challenges, Mary Sue Williams, OTR/l, Sherry shilinberger OTR/l, also found that motor activity, such as fidgeting with lovely paper clip or rubber band, and can help alert people silfrigolati. Therefore pointless may be also other fine motor activity that keeps our mental and physical effects on the level of alert attention during boring situations.
If you also draw pictures and words linking to content of boring conversation or presentation, you will use Visual images to help you remember what you hear. You can use this method of Visual memory and verbal together to make encoding and retrieval of memory more accurately and efficiently.
